White House dinner shooting: Man accused of attempting to assassinate Trump to remain in custody
The man who allegedly tried to assassinate US President Donald Trump last weekend at the White House correspondents' dinner will remain behind bars until his trial begins. Cole Tomas Allen waived his right to challenge his detention during a hearing on Thursday. Prosecutors alleged Allen began planning the shooting about three weeks before the dinner, after Mr Trump announced that he would be attending it. Allen, who has not yet entered a plea, is scheduled to return to court on May 11 for a preliminary hearing. Toni Waterman reports from outside the courthouse in Washington DC.
