SINGAPORE: Six people will be charged on Monday (Sep 23) for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 25-year-old man, a day after a fatal fight at a coffee shop near Kitchener Road.

The suspects are aged between 20 and 24, the police said in a media release.

One of them, a 22-year-old man, will be charged with murder.

The other five - three men and two women - will be charged with the offence of rioting armed with deadly weapon.

The police said on Sunday that they were called to the case at Verdun Road at about 4.05am.

Two men, aged 24 and 25, were unconscious when they were taken to the hospital. The 25-year-old man later died.

According to an 8world report, the fight took place at a coffee shop near 16 Verdun Road.

Blood was seen on the ground near Kim San Leng Eating House and also a short distance away in front of the Novotel Singapore hotel along Kitchener Road in the Farrer Park area.

The offence of murder carries the death penalty, while the charge of rioting armed with deadly weapon carries a jail term of up to 10 years and caning.

Police investigations are ongoing.
