SINGAPORE: The government began rolling out additional haze measures on Wednesday (Oct 14), including the distribution of N95 masks to vulnerable Singaporeans, after hourly PM2.5 readings reached the very high band for the first time this haze season.
Haze shelters have also been set up at community clubs and selected residents' centres, while some sports facilities have closed in response to the elevated PM2.5 levels.
Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu said the country is "keeping our options open" under the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act. When asked about possible prosecution against firms, Ms Fu said Singapore is collecting the data now and would review it carefully.
