Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 4: Pritam Singh on frequency of recyclables collection

01:27 Min

With improved and more widespread recycling habits among Singaporeans, collection has to keep pace, said MP Pritam Singh in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 3). He noted that collection is scheduled twice a week in estates with larger recycling bins, compared with three times a week for estates with smaller bins. However, larger bins also fill up quickly, as the growth of online shopping leads to increased disposal of packaging material. When bins overflow and recyclables are left exposed, the risks of contamination increase, Mr Singh said.
