More rehabilitative support for youths who commit less serious crimes
More rehabilitative support will given to youths who commit less serious crimes such as theft or fraud. From next year, those aged 16 and 17 will be tried for such crimes in the Youth Court, instead of as adults. This gives them access to more early-intervention services. A Social and Family Development Ministry study also found that offending rates among youths remain relatively low. Nikhil Khattar reports.
