Most people in Singapore feel country is free from racial, religious tensions: Poll
A new poll by the Institute of Policy Studies and advocacy body OnePeople.sg found that sentiments of racial discrimination have dipped. It also showed improvement from previous studies in 2013 and 2018. About two-thirds of respondents rated racial and religious harmony in Singapore as "high" or "very high" — up from slightly more than half in 2018. However, the proportion of people with at least one close friend of another race took a slight dip in 2024, compared to 2018. To maintain racial and religious harmony in Singapore, some grassroots organisations are coming up with initiatives to foster a culture of interfaith appreciation. Nikhil Khattar and Chloe Teo report.
