Alleged plot to topple govt well-funded, strategically planned until next polls: Malaysia PM Anwar

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told parliament that the police are probing an alleged attempt by local individuals and foreign entities to topple his government. He said the alleged plot is believed to be linked to large-scale corruption investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Mr Anwar said police investigations so far revealed that the plot began in August 2024 and allegedly involved Zionist groups, foreign lobbyists, bankers and international media agencies. The plot was expected to continue until the next general election, which is due in early 2028. Melissa Goh reports from Kuala Lumpur.
