Five new hawker centres to be built over next three decades
Singapore will build five more hawker centres over the next three decades. The Sustainability and Environment Ministry said it will also upgrade or rebuild existing ones, as the climate gets hotter and residents get older. These works will cost up to S$1 billion. Two new hawker centres will also open in Bukit Batok West and Punggol Coast by June this year. Rachel Teng reports.
