Subsidies and MediSave usage extended to shingles vaccine
The shingles vaccine in Singapore will be subsidised up to 75 per cent for seniors aged 60 and above and younger adults with weakened immune systems from September. It will see the cost of the vaccine drop to between S$75 and S$300 for Singaporeans, from around S$900 for two doses. From next year, MediSave can also be used to pay for the cost of the vaccine after subsidies. Experts estimate that up to 30,000 people get shingles each year in Singapore. Sabrina Ng reports.
